Guest Terry retired as a trial judge in 2019, having served nearly 30 years on the bench. He is currently in private practice. The law has not only been his profession; it is the canvas on which he draws his characters, the backdrop against which he tells their stories. Terry particularly likes to explore that ethical ambiguity that resides in the conflict between law and morality.
Terry has served as a board member of the Mystery Writers of America, Florida Chapter, and as a member of the advisory board for the Florida Book Awards. He lives in Tallahassee with his wife, Fran, a former guidance counselor and their Border Collie mix, Pepper. Guest Upon the passing of their beloved classmate, members of the Lawson Neel Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church (Thomasville) looked for a way to honor the man for whom the class was named. In these deliberations, one class member proposed “medications” as a fitting way to honor this great man. And, not too long afterward, a chance occurrence in a local pharmacy helped bring this idea into focus. A gentleman was observed by another waiting drug store customer having to choose which of his two prescriptions he could afford to fill. Unfortunately, it is a scenario that is played out every day and with increasing frequency: which prescribed medicines do I forego for reasons of limited funds? I have enough money to buy the medications I need or food to eat, but not both. Which do I buy? Horrible and sad choices that many of our neighbors are forced to make.
This eye-opening, chance observation was the catalyst to investigate the need for a MedBank in Thomas County. In early 2001, community leaders, churches, health care providers, and concerned citizens came together to discuss the plight of members of our community who could not afford to buy the prescription medicines they needed to live. From these grass-roots meetings eventually came Lawson Neel MedBank, Inc. a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting the uninsured and underinsured citizens of the area in getting the medications they need to stabilize chronic illnesses and disease.
Incorporated in 2001, Lawson Neel MedBank serves as a facilitator between the patients, healthcare providers, and the pharmaceutical companies that furnish free medications. The work of Lawson Neel MedBank is done in cooperation and partnership with other area organizations such as Family Connections. Since opening its doors on February 2, 2002, Lawson Neel MedBank has facilitated over $25,000,000 worth of medications for the consumers it serves. 12:30p Bremen: Regular Meeting

Guest Tom Fleenor enters his third season at Thomas University in 2021-22, and his 29th year overall coaching in the college ranks. He carries an overall record of 421-284 (.597).
Fleenor came to Thomasville after a successful six-year stint at NCAA DII Lenoir-Rhyne University. He won more games in his first five years than any baseball coach in LR history. In 2016, the Bears collected 33 wins, which was the second highest total for a single season, and only the fifth time the LR program had reached the 30-win plateau. Eight players signed professional contracts in Fleenor’s tenure at Lenoir-Rhyne, six of those taken in the MLB draft.
Fleenor got his first head coaching position at USC Sumter in 2007 where he started the junior college program. He finished his time there with a 242-103 record, which included two Region 10 Championships and Coach of the Year honors in 2009 and 2011. The 2009 team would finish with a 52-11 record and a final ranking of No. 3 in the nation. His USC Sumter teams averaged 42 wins a year and never won less than 37 games in a single season.
Prior to his head coaching career, Fleenor served as an assistant at Cleveland State Community College, Ole Miss, Rollins and USC Upstate. He also managed for 10 summers in various wood bat collegiate leagues. Those stops included the Northwoods League, Coastal Plain League and New York Collegiate League. His Rochester Honkers captured the Northwoods League title in 1999.
Fleenor has coached 125 players that have been drafted professionally, with 17 reaching the Major League level.
A 1993 graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan, Fleenor was an infielder for the Bulldogs. He was inducted into their Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.
Fleenor resides in Thomasville with his two children, Anna (19) and Bradley (21).

The event will feature a spotlight on GRSP success, a salute to the Generations of Generosity donors to the GRSP Peace Plaza and Will Watt Memorial Fountain along with Trustee Foundation award recognitions. Guest Before becoming Doraville Chief of Police, Commissioner King served the Department in many capacities, including as a Detective and Deputy Chief over enforcement operations. Prior to that, Commissioner King was an Atlanta police officer beginning in 1985. While at the Atlanta Police Department, he worked various assignments including Red Dog, Organized Crime/Intelligence. Commissioner King’s career also includes assignments to both FBI and DEA as a Task Force Agent. In 1987, while at the Atlanta Police Department, King received the Chief’s Blue Star for being injured in the line of duty as a result of criminal attack with a firearm.
A native of Mexico, King made a meaningful impact by building bridges among Doraville’s diverse populations and implementing youth education and crime-prevention programs in his role as Chief of Police. Recognizing the international composition of Doraville’s community, King made it a priority to hire bilingual police officers, place multiple languages on police cars, and ensure effective translators and public defenders were employed at the City Courthouse. Commissioner King’s initiatives include Anti-Gang education programs for elementary school students and parents. He worked with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to establish an education program for prospective small business entrepreneurs and worked with state, county, and local leaders to implement a safety and speed reduction program targeted to Buford Highway to reduce the number of pedestrian fatalities. Commissioner King is also a member of Leadership DeKalb.
In addition to his former roles in the Atlanta and Doraville Police Departments, King serves as a Major General in the U.S. Army National Guard assigned to NORAD and U.S. Northern Command. King was the former Commander of the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team and has deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He served as the Military Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Interior for Security for Afghanistan, who oversaw an agency of over 96,000 police officers. Commissioner King has won many awards for military and public services, including the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge, the Meritorious Service Medal, and a NATO award for his service in both Bosnia and Afghanistan, among others. He also received the El Salvador gold medal for achievement in 2006.
King received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in criminal justice and public administration from Brenau University and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. Commissioner King was a graduate of class #229 in the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, and a graduate of the Georgia International Law Enforcement Exchange program to Israel (GILEE).
