Upcoming Program
Edward Bailey - No Longer Bound

On Monday November 16th, Edward Bailey, the Executive Director of No Longer Bound will be visiting and speaking at the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs. Edward's story, from that of a meth addict to Executive Director, inspires, engages, and provides hope to families struggling with addiction. Now a business leader and family man, he oversees the $5 million non-profit organization that once saved his life.

NO LONGER BOUND, located in north metro Atlanta, is one of the nation's premier regeneration centers for men with drug and alcohol addiction. No Longer Sound's program of regeneration is intensive, and it works: approximately 70% of those entering the program will graduate. No Longer Bound is uniquely funded, creating both sustainability and affordability for the Residents we serve. 88% of the administrative costs are self-funded through their industries, allowing donors to invest in what matters the most - a man's pursuit of freedom.

Since 2014 his directorship responsibilities have included providing leadership and direction to the organization's mission. He has helped to rescue addicts, regenerate men, and reconcile families. He has responsible for overall strategic planning, revenue generation, financial management, organizational development, staff management, and program operations. He has also over seen a $3.2M capital campaign, needed to renovate careworn facilities.

Edward earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Lee University in 2003 and holds a Harvard Business School, Strategic Perspective for Non-Profit Management (SPNM) degree earned in 2017.

Edward has been involved in the Atlanta community in the following ways: "Forty Under Forty" by the Atlanta Business Chronicle (2016) "Top 40 Under 40" by North Atlanta Business Post (2016) Current mentors include Frank Blake, former CEO of Home Depot, Cheryl Bachelder, former CEO of Popeyes, and Eddie Staub, founder of Eagle Ranch.

This meeting may be attended live or online.

Special Event
Sandy Springs Charter Middle School Receiver of Eight Donated Internet Hotspots

In photo from left to right: Will MacArthur – Sandy Springs Rotary Club Foundation Chair, Brian Noyse - Chief Communications Officer, John Neill – Sandy Springs Rotary 2020-2021 President, Laurie Woodruff – Principle Sandy Springs Charter Middle School, Ashley Garrison – Office of Grant Development and Community Engagement, & Jim Squire – Rotary District 6900 Immediate Past Governor.

On Wednesday, November 11 the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs presented a special gift to Sandy Springs Middle School.

The Rotary Club of Sandy has been active in serving our community for over 48 years. Education has always been one of our highest priorities for service projects. We are incredibly pleased to provide eight hotspot devices to enable distance learning for students who may not have internet access at home.

Principal Laurie Woodruff responded during the presentation by saying: Thank you all for coming out to visit Sandy Springs Middle School today to share in the excitement of providing hotspots to our families! I feel fortunate to have an amazing organization such as Rotary Club of Sandy Springs invested in supporting our school and community. I know that our partnership will continue to flourish, with the students of SSCMS being the ultimate beneficiaries.

Past Program
Kit Cummings teachings on Conflict Resolution

This past Monday Kit Cummings spoke to our club about conflict resolution. Kit spends a lot of time in prisons. Not in prison garb but working with prison gangs on conflict resolution. Kit started his career in the Ministry. After 20 years he found a new calling to do prison ministry. He found this new calling and dream where he could make a difference. This new dream became a passion. He has put together a program to bring rival prison gangs together. Now his plan is to take this program of conflict resolution principles to a broader scope of groups such as high schools, corporations and other organizations.

This starts with finding a big personal dream and then findings ways to protect this dream. You must recognize what the dream killers are and follow the seven principles that help protect your dream.

1) Seek to understand your opponent.
2) Find common ground with your adversary.
3) Walk a mile with your enemy in their shoes before you judge.
4) Practice active listening.
5) Practice compassionate communication.
6) When you are wrong, promptly admit it.
7)Treat your adversary with dignity and respect.
