This Week's Speaker
Kyle Wingfield, President & CEO, Georgia Public Policy Foundation

Join us this Friday at the Embassy Suites to welcome Kyle Wingfield, President & CEO of the Georgia Public Policy Foundation.

Kyle Wingfield is a native of Dalton and graduate of the University of Georgia. He joined the Foundation as president and CEO in April 2018 after spending nine years as an opinion columnist for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He has also worked for the Wall Street Journal, based in Brussels, Belgium, and for the Associated Press, based in Atlanta and Montgomery, Ala. Kyle’s weekly column continues to appear in newspapers around the state.

Kyle is a graduate of the AEI Leadership Network and Leadership Georgia. He serves as a trustee of the Georgia Press Educational Foundation and is a past member of the University of Georgia’s Board of Visitors. An Eagle Scout, he remains a volunteer in Scouting. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and their two sons.

We Are Sad to Report …

This past week, Carter Stout’s mother Barbara “Ann Reid Stout, passed away peacefully at the age of 88.

A funeral mass will be held this Thursday, May 22, at 10 AM at St. Thomas Aquila’s Catholic Church, 535 Rucker Road, Alpharetta, Georgia 30004-4048, followed by a visitation in the Parish Hall. I lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to the Memorial Fund Scholarship at St. Pius X Catholic High School, where Ann was both an alumni parent and grandparent.

Getting to Know You
Meghan Berry

This week, we shine a spotlight on Meghan Berry, a dedicated member who brings a wealth of experience and a passionate heart to our club. Meghan grew up in Daytona Beach and is a proud alumna of Florida State University. Her career path has been diverse, beginning in nonprofit management where she supported national teen physical and mental health initiatives and spearheaded a collegiate program.

Meghan’s connection to Innovative Design begin as a client twice entrusting them with her home renovations. After the birth of her son Henry, she transitioned to the Innovative team, now serving as a project developer, guiding clients through the design-build process for the past six years. Her empathy, honed by her own experience as a client, allows her to truly understand and fulfill her clients’ dreams of restful personal spaces.

Rotary was always a familiar name to Meghan, thanks to her Rotarian father. It was a serendipitous conversation with former client Rick Woods about her charitable work that led to her coming to our club. She quickly convinced her firm to sponsor our golf tournament and has been an active member ever since.

Meghan cherishes the sense of community and purpose Rotary offers. Along with her husband, Pete, she’s hosted two club events at her home, including a wine tasting and a welcome reception for our international students, Hoa and Bin. The FODAC drive has been a particular favorite, allowing for meaningful one-on-one connections while providing comfort for those in need. She has also enjoyed volunteering at the Special Olympics basketball event. Meghan hopes our club continues to offer diverse, smaller scale projects like the canned soup and sock drives, providing more opportunities for many members to engage and give back.

Anchor Place
We are Still Collecting Plastic Bottle Caps!

We're planning an art project at Anchor Place that will require LOTS of plastic bottle caps - save all sizes and colors (ask your friends to help) and bring them with you to Rotary! We will need a lot of BLUE caps to make an Anchor - milk offers a good source of blue!

We hope to do the project mid-summer.

You can bring any bottle caps you have already collected to the meeting this Friday - or bring them on a future Friday. Any of our Anchor Place volunteers - Jackie Cuthbert, Fred Bounds, Tina Philpott, Louise or Ron Barden - would be happy to take them off your hands!
