Mark Calendar: August 2
It's Almost Time for Baseball!!!

Join the Dunwoody Family of Rotary this Saturday, August 2, to cheer on the Gwinnett Stripers at Cool Ray Field in Lawrenceville.  Game time is at 6 pm. Prior to the game there is going to be a car show so you may want to arrive early to check out the cars. The cars also will parade on the field between innings.

Tickets are $20 each. Please contact Sherry Levy at sherrylevy13@hotmail.com or speak with Ken Levy if you want to attend. Everyone is invited. Kids under 15 can attend at no charge. All attendees will be responsible for their own food and snacks. Like previous years, our seats are under the overhang on the first base side so we will be sheltered from bright sun or rain should there be any.

Upcoming Service Opportunity
Help Collect Equipment for FODAC - August 9

In just a week's time - Saturday, August 9, Rotarians from the DeKalb Rotary Council - including Dunwoody, will gather to collect home medical equipment for an organization called FODAC (Friends of Disabled Adults and Children. Here's a preview of a story from the August District Newsletter that provides a view of the people you might touch by participating. You might also want to take a listen to Chris Brand, President of FODAC and District 6900 Disaster Relief Chair, in his interview on WABE's Closer Look with Rose Scott. Then contact Dave Burr to volunteer for the morning of August 9. [more]

Thanks for Your Service
Dunwoody Bookbags Starts School Year Off Right

In partnership with Tapestri, Dunwoody Rotarians and members of the Dunwoody High School football team recently filled 92 "packed to order" backpacks that will be distributed to kids who need them. The organization had specific lists for 92 children about to start back to school and the Dunwoody club purchased the backpacks and needed school supplies. With all the help on hand, backpacks were done within an hour. Great fun, great work! Thanks to Alison Norris for all her work coordinating this event!

Getting to Know You
Rick Woods

The Rotary Club of Dunwoody is proud to shine a spotlight on one of its most dedicated members, Rick Woods. Rick joined our club in March 2012, driven by a heartfelt desire to give back to his community. He quickly discovered that Rotary's diverse avenues for service provided the perfect platform for him to make a difference.

Rick's journey to Rotary was influenced by former club presidents Jackie Ward and Bill Woulfin, but it was his neighbor, Fred Bounds, who ultimately encouraged him to attend his first meeting and truly sparked his interest.

His commitment to the club was evident when he took the helm as president during the 2018-2019 term. Under Rick's exceptional leadership, our club achieved remarkable success, earning both the Club of the Year and Club of the Decade awards. Rick himself was recognized with the prestigious Sheffield Leadership Award, a testament to his outstanding contributions.

When asked about his favorite club activities, Rick enthusiastically points to Special Olympics days and any initiative involving children, including the Rotary Youth Exchange and our various scholarship programs. Looking to the future, Rick is passionate about increasing our club's fundraising efforts to help even more people and raising our profile within Dunwoody, ensuring every resident is aware of the powerful work we do.

Outside of his Rotary commitments, Rick is looking forward to a golf trip next week with his son at TPC Sawgrass in Florida. We're incredibly fortunate to have Rick Woods as a vital part of our Rotary family!
