Shelly H. Goodrum, K–12 Cluster Superintendent for the historic Booker T. Washington Cluster in Atlanta Public Schools
Shelly H. Goodrum is the K–12 Cluster Superintendent for the historic Booker T. Washington Cluster in Atlanta Public Schools. Known for her motto “Inspiring Excellence, Empowering Communities, and Transforming Futures,” she is a results-driven leader focused on equity and transformation in education. Previously, she served as Principal of Therrell High School, where she led a dramatic academic turnaround—boosting the graduation rate from 49% to 86% and securing International Baccalaureate authorization across three programs.
She has presented nationally on school turnaround strategies and leadership for equity and is a 2019 Cahn Fellow for Distinguished Principals. Goodrum holds degrees from Tuskegee University and is an alum of the AASA–Howard University Urban Superintendent’s Academy. Deeply committed to community, she shares her passion for service and leadership with her husband, Leon Goodrum, a retired McDonald’s franchisee and entrepreneur.
