Two of Marietta-Metro's newest members, Deputy Chief Jake King of the Marietta Police Department and Madison Scholar, already had Rotary experience before they were inducted into our club.
Twenty-some years ago, Officer King was sponsored by Marietta-Metro and subsequently selected as a member of the D6900 Group Study Exchange Team that went to Germany. Upon his return, he said that one day he hoped to join our club. However, at the time, he was concentrating on his career. Then came marriage and the births of his three daughters. But a few weeks ago, the time finally came when he was ready to join our club and we are thrilled to have him.
Madison Scholar was the recipient in 2019-20 of
a $50,000 Global Grant Scholarship, which she used to earn a master's degree in
Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Manchester in
England. As the founder of The Red Letter Project, Madison has
helped numerous women escape abusive environments, empowering them to reclaim
their lives and pursue paths of healing and hope. She and her team continue to
work alongside local and international Christian mission organizations to
combat domestic violence and trafficking in various hot zones. We're
excited to have her as a member of our club.
