Vinings Cumberland Rotary Hosts Record-Breaking Downhill 5K Run for the Kids

In August, the Rotary Club of Vinings Cumberland proudly hosted the annual Vinings Downhill 5K Run for the Kids, welcoming more than 1,300 enthusiastic participants to one of Atlanta’s most beloved summer traditions.

Now in its 29th year, the Vinings Downhill 5K has grown into a premier running and family event in the Atlanta area. Runners enjoyed the fast, scenic downhill course before gathering at Vinings Jubilee for a lively post-race festival featuring music, family fun and awards. Among the highlights was the always-popular Doggie Dash, where furry friends took their turn in the spotlight, along with the Kids 1K Fun Run, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy.

Running for a Cause

While the race offers plenty of excitement, its primary mission is to make a difference in the lives of children across our community. Each year, the event raises funds for local children’s charities, To date, the Vinings Downhill 5K has raised over $1.3 million thanks to the incredible generosity of sponsors, participants, and volunteers.

A Beloved Tradition

This year’s race continued the tradition of combining fitness, fellowship, and philanthropy in a way that truly embodies the Rotary spirit of Service Above Self. From first-time runners to seasoned athletes, from families with strollers to four-legged competitors, the event brought the community together in a celebration of health, fun, and giving back.

Looking Ahead

The Vinings Cumberland Rotary is already planning for next year’s race, which promises to be even bigger and better. With the continued support of the community, sponsors, and Rotarians, the club is committed to ensuring the Vinings Downhill 5K Run for the Kids remains a cornerstone event that transforms lives and strengthens the bonds of our community.
